Happy New Year ...

.......and here is to a brand new year of Christmas Ornie Stitching in 2018!

I am writing this post a day or two early from La Dolce Vita in Roma, Italia....

My access to internet and free time (and the right amount of power to charge my laptop) has been patchy, so I am taking the opportunity of posting right now.

I am hoping that you all had a wonderful Christmas ..... we certainly did whilst in Sicily, with Babbo Natale (DD's boyfriend taking on the role, even though he speaks no Italian) visiting us and all the cousins at midnight on Christmas Eve....

.... and, of course I am wishing you all a Happy New Year ....

.... however, I do wish to remind you about January's themes for 2018...

Theme One... The Twelve Days of Christmas

A Partridge in a Pear Tree

(Wasn't David Cassidy such a dream boat in "The Partridge Family"?  So sad that he has passed away too soon.)

... and Theme Two ... Christmas Carols ...

Deck the Halls

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la la la la!

'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la la la la!
Don we now our gay apparel, Fa la la la la la la la!
Troll the ancient Yuletide carol, Fa la la la la la la la!

See the blazing yule before us, Fa la la la la la la la!
Strike the harp and join the chorus, Fa la la la la la la la!

Follow me in merry measure, Fa la la la la la la la!
While I tell of Yuletide treasure, Fa la la la la la la la!

Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la la la la!
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses, Fa la la la la la la la!
Sing we joyous all together! Fa la la la la la la la!
Heedless of the wind and weather, Fa la la la la la la la!

Wishing you all a fabulous year ahead....

I certainly plan to have a great year of stitching and blogging once I return home to Oz in mid to late January.

lots of hugs,

Kaye

December 2017

Thank you all for the nice words in November!
My Three King:

I'm glad I participated in 2017 and look forward to 2018! I do not understand the carols, so I will embroider 12 Christmas days :-)
I wish you peaceful holidays filled with love!

2018 Blog Badge

Showing some amazing organisational abilities (not! lol!), I have actually managed to create next year's badge early (it is really just me procrastinating about having to open up my suitcase and take some things out as I have, naturally, packed way too much!).

So, anyway, introducing next year's badge.....

Please feel free to download it and link to this blog.

(if you are curious as to how I made this gorgeous badge - I used picmonkey.  It is an online tool that allows you to play around with your images - cool, hey?)

Now, remember, we are off on our big European adventure in less than 48 hours now (and I have managed to take a tumble in the garden down some steps and hit my head on a metal garden arch - chasing one of the kitty cats, of course - I have a big bump on my head, scrapes, aches, grazes and bruises and a headache the size of the Sydney Harbour Bridge plus I am just getting over a very sore throat - but will any of that stop me from getting on that plane on early Thursday am - no way!  I cannot wait to see my daughter after eighteen months!).

So, we are off on a big five week trip to Europe  (London to see DD, Christmas with DH's cousins in Sicily, Rome, Southern Spain and Dubai!).

The Big Reveal.... Themes for 2018 announced!

Drum roll, please....

The themes for 2018 are:

Back by popular demand......

Theme One:
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS.....

(no great surprise there but scroll down to see the exciting new Theme 2)
On the First day of Christmas my true love sent to me
Partridge in a Pear Tree.

On the Second day of Christmas my true love sent to me
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

On the Third day of Christmas my true love sent to me
Three French Hens,
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
Subsequent verses follow the same pattern, each adding one new gift and repeating all the earlier gifts, so that each verse is one line longer than its predecessor:
Calling Birds
Gold Rings
Geese a-Laying
Swans a-Swimming
Maids a-Milking
Ladies Dancing
10 Lords a-Leaping
11 Pipers Piping
12 Drummers Drumming

There are so many different designs out there on this theme - I just did a quick Google search and look at all of these:

You can also check out The Twelve Days of Christmas Stash Enabling page on this blog, if you need more inspiration.

.... and here we go, another "Drum Roll" please....

"The Little Drummer Boy" sung A Capella by Pentatonix (this is beautiful, so please do listen).

Theme Two:

Christmas Carols

(as suggested brilliantly, by the lovely Mary H from Mary's Threads.  Thank you so much for the idea, Mary.)

Now, I have canvassed around for a few ideas (Thank you, Stitching Noni and Mary H), added a few of my favourite carols and came up with a list - I hope that you like them.

January - Deck the Halls
February - Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer
March - We Three Kings
April - White Christmas
May - Hark the Herald Angels Sing
June - Good King Wenceslas
July - God Rest You Merry Gentleman
August - Away in a Manger
September - The Little Drummer Boy
October - Oh Christmas Tree
November - Jolly Old St Nicholas
December - Frosty the Snowman

(Now, remember, you can shoehorn as much as you like to make a design that you like fit the theme - i.e - just choose a word or two from a carol which fits the design that you would like to stitch.)

Here are a couple of lovely designs to give you inspiration (thanks to dear Stitching Noni)

Christmas Carols by CCN
(there are quite a few other Christmas carol designs in Nikki's range - worth checking out)

But, of course, most Christmas Ornie designs would fit somewhere in that list, I am sure.

Wishing you all the most blessed of Christmases and a very Happy New Year.

We are off on a big five week trip to Europe next Thursday (London to see DD, Christmas with DH's cousins in Sicily, Rome, Southern Spain and Dubai!). So, I am thinking that we are very blessed.

November Dragonlet

I'm late with my November post, even though it was finished on time. So here is Dragonlet #11, piping bravely.

From Dragon Dreams 12 Dragonlets of 2012.
