The Snowman made it!

Hello fellow SALers!

I finished my snowman on time, whoho!

From the magazine Enjoy cross stitching at Christmas 2011.
Designer: Adam Prescott

I enjoyed stitching him up until the backstitch...! It was way too fiddly and sometimes the small stitches disappeared into the stitching...and the mouth looks all wonky up close! This is definitely a design that looks best at a distance...lol.
Still, I guess he's kind of cute...for a snowman:)

Now I need a few days break from Christmas ornaments after that backstitch session, before I start to think of next month's fun theme!

A late start...

Hi fellow SALers!

I'm ashamed to admit that I almost forgot to stitch this month's theme... I've had so many other things on my mind lately that it just slipped my mind for a while. Luckily I remembered in time - I hope - since this month's theme is a favorite of mine. Living in Sweden we always have snow in the winter and it is my very favorite time of the year!

Today I made a start on my piece and I was quite happy that I had some blue aida to stitch on since that background colour will really make the design pop:)

Hopefully I'll be back soooon with a finish - wish me luck!

Snow Birds

Hiya!

I really wasn't sure I was going to get this stitched in time so I threw the rotation out the window and stitched my little heart out!

Here is Snow Birds by Country Cottage Needleworks from the Just Cross Stitch 2013 Christmas Ornament Issue.  Or as I lovingly refer to them, my Christmas seagulls.  I live on an Island in eastern Canada and I am pretty sure we don't get snow birds but we sure do have seagulls, so mine are seagulls.

Happy Stitching!!

Home snow in February

Finally I can show my project February. I found the pattern in happinessiscrossstitching. You can see more pictures on my blog (Issabela).

Crafting Paw's February Ornament...

Hello everyone!
I really enjoyed the theme for this month and love the cute little ornament that I stitched.

Here he is, all finished...
The pattern comes from the Cross Stitch Favourites magazine.
He was stitched on 14 ct, natural colored Aida.

Definitely looking forward to next month's theme!

January and February in one post

Hello friends,

finally I can show you the first two ornies for this year. We have had a photo session today around noon during half an hour of sunshine, the first half hour for days.

The left ornie is Fa La La by Something in Common that I saw here on this blog. And the right is Let It Snow by Country Cottage Needleworks that I found in an older JCS Ornament issue. But both will not be ornaments but I want to turn them into little bags for my grandson's advent calendar.

Now on to choose a new design for the March theme.

Serendipitous Jo's February Ornament - Snow

I have decided to stitch the Christmas Cubes by Primitive Hare as my Christmas project this year.  I looked at the themes which Kaye had chosen for this year and all but two are covered by the Cubes.  Perfect!  It does mean that I will stitch the letters out of order but I can cope with that.

Here is Cube Two - R:

I'm stitching them on a lovely 35 count linen called Country Mocha by Willow Fabrics using the recommended DMC.  I have changed the white to B5200 rather than Blanc because it will pop more against the neutral fabric.  I also changed his carrot nose to a more orange colour than the charted olive.

And here are the two so far:

February - Snow

Here is my February ornament.  It's a modification of one of the Let it Snow charts from the Cross Stitcher #297 and stitched on Picture This Plus Dwarf 18-count Aida 1 over 1.

Snowmates

Finished my February ornament this evening - Snowmates - Blue Ribbon Designs (JCS 2015 Special Christmas Ornament Issue).

I stitched this on a 28ct ornament cut (from a Grab Bag) in my stash with DMC and WDW threads.

I really enjoyed stitching this one and love how it turned out.

Thanks for looking!

Saturday 6 February 2016

Hello all

Hello all.
I am a latecomer to this SAL but so pleased to have found it and thank you to Kaye for allowing me to join you all.
My name is Frances and I live in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, U.K.
I have just finished my January ornie. It isn't Christmassy but is music. I needed something I could do really quickly as I only joined a week ago.
I haven't made it up as a friend who is staying really loves Native American things and has played the flute for years. I have given it to him as he wants to frame it as a picture.

Now I'm off to make a coffee and sort through patterns for a Christmassy snow ornie. Stay warm and safe everyone. The weather here is atrocious but is ideal to stay in and stitch. X

January and February done and dusted!!!

Hello everyone! Happy New Year (belated....)  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and got lots of stitching done!  I see from all the posts that everyone has chosen some great music designs for January, and there are even some snow designs popping up already!

Well.... would you believe it.... I have manged to finish both my January and February ornies already! So I am feeling mighty proud of myself right now.... :o)

Here we go...

January's theme was Music - I loved looking for something to stitch for this one.  I have so many little Christmas designs that could fit into the theme that I was really stuck for choice!  I did finally decide to stitch a "Christmas Carol" design that feature in the Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine.

"Christmas Chorus" - designer Durene Jones
February's choice was really simple.... I was stitching the Blue Ribbon Designs "Snow Mates" for another SAL so they just had to be my February choice for "Snow"!

"Snow Mates" - designer Blue Ribbon Designs
This design was featured in the Just Cross Stitch 2015 Christmas Ornaments magazine.  I stitched it using mainly DMC but did have a Weeks Dye Works "Hunter" in my stash so was able to do the border in the called for colour.

So that's me up to date for a change!

Til next time.... Happy Christmas Stitching
Hugs xx
